"Guidelines for Conducting and Evaluating Undergraduate Exams under the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) at University of Jammu"

The University of Jammu has recently released guidelines for the Conduct/Evaluation of Undergraduate 1 Semester examinations under the National Education Policy (NEP-2020) for the session Dec 2022-Jan 2023, which will commence from February 16, 2023. These guidelines have been designed to ensure smooth and fair conduct and evaluation of the examinations in adherence with the rules and regulations set forth by the university.

The guidelines specify a set of procedures for the packing of answer books, evaluation/coding of answer scripts, and the collection of answer books by invigilators/supervisory staff. As per the guidelines, the answer-books of each paper shall be arranged serially and tied together securely before being packed in a yellow-colored envelope/cloth cover that shall be properly sealed.

The cloth cover shall bear the following particulars - Name of examination, Centre/Hall Number, Subject, and Paper, and Number of answer-books. All the answer-books pertaining to a particular paper shall be packed in one parcel unless otherwise instructed. It is important to ensure that there are no blank pages between the texts, and all blank pages must be punched by the supervisory staff.

The guidelines also specify the procedure for the evaluation/coding of answer scripts. After receiving packets/parcels of answer-books from the concerned college, the parent college shall code the answer-scripts subject/paper-wise. A coding machine shall be used for coding the answer-scripts as per last year's practice. Only a teacher or an officer is authorized to act as a Code Officer. After coding the answer-scripts, the counter foil from the answer-script shall be torn off and packed in a hundred/century each, so that the answer-scripts shall be in code-wise serial order.

The evaluation shall be taken up by the college out of the pool of eligible teachers available in that particular college or nearby college. The Principals shall be the authorized person to check the eligibility per-se. Examiners shall allot marks on the perforated corners and fill the same marks on the front page in tabular form printed on the answer-book. The evaluator shall prepare and authenticate the award rolls as per past practice. After completion of the evaluation process, the University shall make arrangements to pick up the evaluated answer scripts.

Overall, the guidelines set forth by the University of Jammu are comprehensive and ensure the fair and smooth conduct and evaluation of undergraduate examinations under the National Education Policy. It is important that all affiliated degree colleges adhere to these guidelines to maintain the integrity of the examination process and ensure that students are evaluated fairly and accurately.
