As India marks the 4th anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack, the nation pays homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the country. In this regard, the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and the National Service Scheme (NSS) organized a program in GDC Bilawar to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack. The event saw the participation of the Staff, government officials, and students of GDC Bilawar.
The program began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by a two-minute silence in memory of the martyred soldiers. The event was held under the supervision of the NCC Officer Dr. Rajni Kumari and the NSS Officer Dr. Kulbir Singh. The Principal of GDC Billawar, Prof. Dr. Anita Jamwal, was also present as a special guest.
During the program, cadets Nikhil Sharma and Deshbandhu delivered speeches and recited poems in honor of the martyred soldiers. They spoke about the sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families for the sake of the country. The event was marked by a deep sense of patriotism and respect for the soldiers.
In her address, Dr. Anita Jamwal praised the cadets for organizing the program and paying homage to the soldiers. She highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families. She also encouraged the students to develop a sense of respect and admiration for the armed forces.
Dr. Rajni Kumari and Dr. Kulbir Singh also spoke on the occasion, expressing their solidarity with the families of the martyred soldiers. They praised the efforts of the NCC and NSS cadets in organizing the program and said that it was an excellent way of paying tribute to the soldiers.
The program concluded with Senior Cadet Sanak Shrivats proposing a vote of thanks. He urged the students to always keep the memory of the martyred soldiers alive in their hearts.
The Pulwama terror attack, which occurred on 14th February 2019, was one of the deadliest attacks on the Indian armed forces. A suicide bomber from the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a convoy of Indian security forces in Pulwama, killing 40 CRPF personnel.
The attack sparked outrage across India, and the government took decisive action against the perpetrators of the attack. In February 2019, Indian Air Force planes carried out a surgical strike on Jaish-e-Mohammed's training camp in Balakot, Pakistan. The strike was widely seen as a strong message to Pakistan, which has been accused of supporting terrorist groups operating on its soil.
The attack also brought to the forefront the issue of cross-border terrorism and the need for a robust response to such threats. The Indian armed forces have been actively engaged in counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country to prevent such attacks.
The role of the armed forces in safeguarding the country's sovereignty and integrity cannot be overstated. The soldiers who lay down their lives for the country are a source of inspiration and pride for every Indian. The NCC and NSS, through their various activities, help instill a sense of patriotism and love for the country among the youth.
The program organized by the NCC and NSS cadets in Billawar is an excellent example of the role of the youth in paying homage to the soldiers. It is heartening to see young students taking the lead in organizing such events and inspiring others to remember the sacrifices made by the soldiers.
