Government Degree College Billawar in collaboration with the celebration of World Cancer Day on the 23rd of February 2023 marked an important step in creating awareness about the dangers of cancer and the need for early detection and treatment.
Cancer is a disease that affects millions of people worldwide and is one of the leading causes of death. The World Cancer Day is observed every year on the 4th of February to raise awareness about the disease, its causes, and the need for its prevention and control. This year, the Government Degree College Billawar joined hands with the celebration to create awareness about cancer among the student community and the local population.
The event was organized in the college premises and was attended by a large number of students, faculty members, and local residents. The day started with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of the event, followed by a series of informative and educational activities aimed at creating awareness about cancer.
One of the main highlights of the event was a talk by a well-known oncologist who spoke about the causes of cancer, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection. The talk was followed by a question and answer session where the students and local residents could ask questions and clear their doubts.
In addition to the talk, the college also organized a walkathon to raise awareness about cancer. The walkathon was attended by students, faculty members, and local residents who walked around the college premises, carrying placards and banners with messages of hope and encouragement.
The day also saw the launch of a cancer awareness campaign in the college. The campaign was aimed at spreading the message of cancer awareness and encouraging people to get regular check-ups and seek treatment if necessary. The campaign involved the distribution of leaflets and posters with information about cancer and its causes, as well as the importance of early detection and treatment.
The event was also marked by the distribution of red ribbons, which symbolize the fight against cancer. The ribbons were distributed among the students and local residents to show their support for the cause and to raise awareness about the disease.
The event ended with a cultural program that was attended by the students and local residents. The program featured songs, dances, and skits that aimed to spread the message of cancer awareness and to inspire people to take action against the disease.
In conclusion, the collaboration between Government Degree College Billawar and the celebration of World Cancer Day was a huge success. The event was a great platform to create awareness about cancer and to encourage people to take action against the disease. The college's commitment to the cause will go a long way in helping to reduce the burden of cancer and to improve the lives of those affected by the disease.
