The Jammu and Kashmir Home Department has announced a referral of 752 vacancies of Sub-Inspectors in the Jammu & Kashmir Police to the J&K Services Selection Board for direct recruitment. This announcement comes after the amendment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Rules in 2021 and the notification of the J&K Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Public Services and Posts) Rules.
The 752 vacancies have been divided into different categories such as Open merit (OM), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Residents of areas adjoining Line of Actual Control/International Border (ALC), Residents of Backward Areas (RBA), Pahari Speaking People (PSP) and Social Castes (OSC). The distribution of the vacancies among these categories is as follows: OM – 376, RBA – 75, SC – 61, ST – 75, EWS – 75, ALC – 30, PSP – 30 and OSC – 30.

Out of the 752 posts, 45 posts have been earmarked for providing 6% horizontal reservation to the candidates belonging to the Ex-Servicemen category. This reservation is in accordance with the Explanation-A of rule 4 of the J&K Reservation Rules, 2005, which was amended in 2020.

This is a great opportunity for eligible candidates to join the Jammu and Kashmir Police as Sub-Inspectors. The selection process will be carried out by the J&K Services Selection Board, ensuring a fair and transparent recruitment process.

In conclusion, the referral of 752 vacancies of Sub-Inspectors in the Jammu & Kashmir Police is a positive step towards the development of the state's law enforcement system. The division of vacancies among different categories will ensure a more diverse representation in the police force. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria should take advantage of this opportunity and apply for the post.
